Othoshi Shrine

Otoshi Shrine by Shizuoka Univ. student

This time, I would like to introduce Otoshi Shrine in Hamamatsu City.
Otoshi Shrine is a shrine with a history of 1,300 years.
On New Year’s Eve, many locals visit the shrine for their first visit of the year, and the shrine is a beloved place.
The deity’s blessing is said to be bountiful harvests, but Otoshi Shrine is also popularly known as the “Motorcycle Shrine”.
The reason for this is that the priest is a genuine motorbike rider and holds many motorbike-related events.
At Otoshi Shrine, you can get a goshuin stamp with a picture of a motorcycle on it, and they also sell traffic safety amulets that you can attach to your bike.
They also sell motorcycle fortune-telling slips.
Many riders gather on weekends, making it a place to interact with each other!
You might even make friends with some Japanese riders.
Be sure to visit Otoshi Shrine.
