Hi, I’m Mina.
This time, I visited Mt. Omuro (Omuroyama) and discovered several interesting things.
Mt. Omuro is a volcano located in the Izu Kogen area and is known for its unique shape, which looks like an upside-down bowl.
The beautiful scenery from the top of the mountain is one of its charms, and many tourists visit it.
Discovery 1: More Impressive Than I Expected
I was really looking forward to seeing Mt. Omuro because the aerial photos I found on the Internet were very impressive.
The mountain had a round shape, and there was a huge crater in the middle.
Please take a look at the official website below: https://omuroyama.com/index_en/
However, when I arrived near Mt. Omuro and saw it from below, my first impression was “Oh, it’s not as impressive as I expected. It looks like a normal big hill.” I felt a little disappointed…
After taking the chairlift to the top of the mountain, my impression changed completely.
The scenery was even more spectacular than in the photos.
Mt. Omuro surprised me in a good way.😊

Discovery 2: Finding Japanese Culture
Near the top, there was a walking trail around the crater. Along the trail, I found a shrine gate and some stone statues, which made me feel Japanese culture.
It was refreshing to experience some elements of Japanese culture in the beautiful natural scenery!

I forgot to take photos, but there was an archery range inside the crater.
It seemed that visitors could apply at the shop at the top on the same day, and people who are over 12 years old and taller than 140cm (4.7 feet) can enjoy archery.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t try it this time, but I would love to do it next time!
