Great Introduction to Shimizu Port
We had a tour guide (Masa) and a driver (Ted) on this tour, so we got twice the normal amount of information. We took the ropeway up to the top of the mountain and learned about the monks walking up the mountain in years past. The views were stunning. We then went to Lake Tankuki and learned the history of the planting of the rows of trees and shrines within the park. We invited Masa and Ted to join us for lunch. Masa could not join us, but Ted agreed. Since Ted was the driver, it worked out great. We asked him to pick the restaurant. He selected one of his favorite places. It was an outstanding soba noodle restaurant. We love visiting restaurants frequented by locals as opposed to tourists. This was one of those places. We had a delicious lunch.
