Nihondaira Plateau (green tea farm, Nihondaira Yume Terrace observatory, cableway)
One of the most popular spots to view beautiful Mountain Fuji.
Nihondaira is a hilly area on Mt. Udo, 307 meters above sea level. Designated as one of Japan’s most scenic spots, from the summit you can admire Mount Fuji, Miho no Matsubara and Suruga Bay if the weather permitted. There are following three popular sightseeing spots in Nihondaira; ①Nihondaira Ropeway, ②Nihondaira Yume Terrace, and ③Nihondaira Ocha Kaikan.

1. Nihondaira Ropeway
Nihondaira Ropeway is 1,065m long scenic cable car ride for five minutes, connecting Mt. Udo (Nihondaira Plateau area) and Mt. Kuno (Kunozan Toshogu Shrine). During the ride, you can see the steep cliffs of Byobudani, Kuno Coast, and even the Izu Peninsula. Tourists who visit Kunozan Toshogu Shrine take this cable car ride.

2. Nihondaira Yume Terrace

Nihondaira Yume Terrace
1st floor: Exhibition area, 2nd floor:Lounge, 3rd floor:Observatory
This observation deck was built in 2018 which offers a spectacular view that fits to its name, “Yume Terrace” (Terrace of Dreams).
This beautiful building was designed by a famous Japanese architect named Mr. KUMA Kengo. Not only enjoying the beautiful view of Mt. Fuji, you also can learn about the history and cultural background of Nihondaira.

3. Nihondaira Ocha Kaikan

Nihondaira Ocha Kaikan
Here is the place for green tea lovers to stop by. Ocha Kaikan” literally means “tea house”. You can taste “Sencha” which is the typical way of drinking green tea in Japan, and also be able to buy the green tea if you like the taste. Very refreshing.
There is a green tea plantation at the backyard. If the weather is fine, you can enjoy one of the most iconic view of Shizuoka prefecture (Green tea plantation, Suruga bay and Mt.Fuji all together).

The statue of Yamato TakeruHe climbed Nihon-daira in mythological times. ”Yamato” means “Nihon (Japan)” and is the origin of the name “Nihondaira”.
